Some toothpastes, deodorants, shampoos and mouthwashes are classified as NHPs in Canada. 71% of Canadians have used NHPs. NHPs must be licenced in Canada to be sold, these must be safe, effective and high quality. Licenced products can be identified with an 8-digit Natural Product Number (NPN) or Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM) on the label.
Natural Products Canada (NPC) focuses on helping companies attract investors or investing in these companies.
NHPs sources are from plants, animals microorganisms, and marine sources.
The functions include the purification of water and air and the generation of energy or industrial chemicals with minimal environmental impact.
Bioproducts can be produced using biomass (both new and waste, such as corn straw, tree branches and municipal landfill) or biological processes.
