Opportunities and Challenges in Medtech: Perspectives from Medical Technology Leaders

Canada first adopted universal health coverage for all Canadians starting in 1947. In the 77 years since, Alberta, and all jurisdictions have grappled with how to address rising demand for services, increased delivery costs, coupled with the fiscal constraints facing all governments. For the medical technology sector this has meant Canada has historically been a slow adopter of medical technologies. On the other hand, Canadian researchers and scientists have often been at the forefront of developing or contributing to a number of leading advances in medical technologies.

Join us for a panel discussion with Robert Clifton, President (Interim) of Medtronic Canada, Dehlia Blanchard, Vice President, Services – GE HealthCare Canada and Lindsay Williams Vice President of Stryker Canada, where they will discuss how their organizations have tried to capitalize on opportunities for the sector in Canada and, conversely, how they are addressing the challenges facing medical device companies operating in Canada. This panel will be moderated by Nicole DeKort, President and CEO of the Medical Technology Association of Canada.
