On Thursday, September 24th, BioAlberta’s annual Health and Life Sciences Showcase and Achievement Awards Dinner connected and celebrated Alberta’s life sciences ecosystem. The afternoon was filled with collaborative panel discussions on important and relevant topics including utilizing AI technology to make patient outcomes more efficient, discussing the action required of the health sector to remain competitive and expand Canada’s leadership in the life sciences, collaborating across health providers to achieve precision analytics and better patient outcomes, and improving access to clinical trials through faster and more efficient programs.

Each panel offered a compelling call to action that sparked conversation about where Alberta can grow as a leader in innovation, reduce burdens on the private sector and red tape to achieve greater efficiency, and remain competitive in global markets. BioAlberta conducted the 2026 Annual General Meeting on September 24th. We wish to thank our outgoing Board Members for their commitment, dedication, and passion to supporting BioAlberta and the Alberta’s life sciences sector. As BioAlberta welcomes new Board Members, we remain committed to working collaboratively to support our sector achieve greater scaleup and investment in Alberta.

Following a successful afternoon of panel discussions and networking, we celebrated the 2026 Achievement Awards. Handol Kim, CEO and Founder of Variational AI, gave an energetic and compelling keynote address. Kim’s important message resonated with many leaders and innovators in the room, compelling Canada’s life sciences sector to act now and benefit from AI technologies. He conveyed the importance of remaining sovereign over Canadian-made health innovation and adopting technology.

The 2026 Achievement Award recipients showcase the innovation, leadership, collaboration, and dedication to advancing health innovation in Alberta. The Achievement Awards are presented to companies, leaders, investors, and innovators that have gone above and beyond to support advancements in the life sciences sector and promote exceptional outcomes in scientific advancement around the world.
