SUMMARY:Bioeconomy Guild - November 2025
DESCRIPTION:BioAlberta presents our Prairie Bioeconomy Guild November Gu
ild Night:\n\nKahkiyaw Ahkameyimok “Everything Perseveres”\nFrog Lak
 e First Nations #121 &amp\; #122 have embarked on an intergenerational p
lan to transform our nation and lands from reliance on oil and gas extra
ction to pioneering leadership in clean energy. To do so\, we have devel
oped the Legacy Energy and Alternative Power (LEAP) Master Plan which is
a strategy for reclaiming our land base from oil and gas wells and turn
ing them into assets which will help to repair the scars on our land\, a
nd to pioneer technologies that will enable other First Nations to do th
e same. Our nation members on and off reserve have made it clear that we
need to plan and act to create new collaborative economic and social de
velopment opportunities for our region\, and to collaboratively build re
silience and self-sufficiency against challenges highlighted by the pand
emic and recent climate-related disasters.\nThe LEAP Master Plan creates
a platform to integrate investments and innovations in Energy\, Transpo
rtation\, Building Materials\, Food and Water Sovereignty\, and Economic
Sustainability for not only Frog Lake First Nations but also neighbouri
ng Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities\, in Treaty Six Territory\,
in the region\, in Alberta and across Canada. This initiative naturally
fits within the Frog Lake Economic Development Corporation and the corr
esponding Nation programming. We have gathered support from partners in
industry\, finance\, education\, and governments to support our next ste
ps to: build Indigenous talent in clean energy and related technologies\
, to create new sustainable energy and related infrastructure\, and to m
ove our position upwards in global value chains. Implementing the severa
l companies and strategies in LEAP will create an environment where curr
ent and future generations can meaningfully participate in and help to b
uild indigenous-led sustainable economy that provides resilient infrastr
ucture that will attract innovation and forward thinking\, while reaffir
ming our role as natural stewards of the land using our resources and ex
 perience.\nSpeaker\nCliffton Cross\, Frog Lake First Nations #121 &amp\;

a third term. Cliffton is proud to say that he was born and raised\, att

Nation. Councillor Cross has over 20 years’ experience working with t
he youth of his community\, and he was previously employed with the comm
unity for 10 years\, as FLFNs Youth and Recreation Director.\nCouncillor
Cross has held the portfolios of Education\, Daycare\, Child and Family
Services\, Youth and Recreation\, Blue Quills University\, and although
remaining connected to those crucial portfolios\, has brought his atten
